This Spring will see three very different debuts at the newly re-opened historic stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow.
Anna Stephany’s first Octavian in a new Stephen Lawless production of Der Rosenkavalier; the theatre’s first ever production of Strauss’ Viennese masterpiece; and believe it or not, having sung the role of Herr Faninal for both The Met and Covent Garden, Sir Thomas Allen will also be making his Bolshoi debut.
This new production directed by Stephen Lawless will be conducted by the Bolshoi’s new chief conductor Vassily Sinaisky, with Melanie Diener as Marschallin, Lyubov Petrova as Sophie and Stephen Richardson as Baron Ochs.
